Code of Ethics

The Interdisciplinary Journal of Sustainable Engineering and Social Development (RIISDS) adheres to the principles and good practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All actors involved in the editorial process (authors, reviewers, editors, and the editorial team) must act with integrity, transparency, and responsibility.

Obligations of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Works must be unpublished and not be submitted simultaneously to other journals. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and citation manipulation are expressly prohibited. All manuscripts undergo similarity verification using Turnitin software before peer review begins.

  • Authorship: Only those who have contributed substantially to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study are recognized as authors. All authors must approve the final version and assume public responsibility for the content.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any financial, personal, or institutional relationship that could influence the results or interpretation of the work.

  • Errors in Publications: If an author identifies a significant error in their published work, they must immediately notify the editor to proceed with the corresponding correction or retraction.

Obligations of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Received manuscripts are confidential documents and must not be discussed with third parties or used for personal benefit.

  • Objectivity: Evaluations must be impartial, well-founded, and respectful. The strengths and weaknesses of the work must be clearly indicated.

  • Conflict of Interest Declaration: If the reviewer has any conflict (recent collaboration, direct competition, institutional relationship), they must decline the invitation to evaluate.

Obligations of the Editorial Team (Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Committee)

  • Editorial Decision: Acceptance or rejection decisions are based exclusively on the relevance, originality, clarity, and methodological soundness of the work, without discrimination based on ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

  • Impartiality: The peer review process is double-blind, guaranteeing the anonymity of authors and reviewers.

  • Research Involving Humans or Animals: Authors must declare that the study complied with international ethical principles (Helsinki Declaration, CIOMS guidelines, or equivalents) and has obtained approval from their institution's ethics committee.

Misconduct and Sanctions

If plagiarism, data manipulation, redundant publication, or any other serious misconduct is detected, the journal will apply the procedures established by COPE, which may include anything from a warning letter to the retraction of the article and the disqualification of the authors from future submissions.
