Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
RIISDS recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence tools in academic writing and review. To ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability, the following rules are established.
Permitted Use
-
Authors may use AI solely as a support to improve writing, grammar, translation, or initial idea generation.
-
The use of AI for the complete generation of substantive sections (materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions) is not permitted and will be considered a serious offense.
Declaration Obligation
Authors must declare in a separate PDF document (the same one where they specify author contributions, No Conflict of Interest statement, and Funding sources) the following:
-
The name of the AI tool used.
-
The specific purpose of its use (writing improvement, translation, style editing, etc.).
-
An explicit statement that the final content has been reviewed and approved by the authors, who assume full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the work.
Prohibited Use
-
AI is not permitted to be listed as a co-author, as it cannot assume legal or intellectual responsibility for the content.
-
Reviewers are not permitted to use AI to generate automatic evaluations without human critical analysis.
-
The submission of complete manuscripts generated by AI without substantial human involvement is not permitted.
Management of Non-Compliance
Failure to declare the use of AI will be considered an ethical violation and will be handled in accordance with the misconduct procedure outlined in the Code of Ethics.
