Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The file containing the ARTICLE TEXT is in Microsoft Word format. It does not include any author identification details.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is formatted with 1.5 line spacing; 12-point font size; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed in their appropriate locations within the text, rather than at the end.
  • The article title, author details (name, affiliation, ORCID), each author's contribution, the No Conflict of Interest statement, and the funding statement are contained in a separate document from the article, in PDF format.
  • The ORCID is provided for each and every author.
  • The article contains the following structure: title (Spanish and English), abstract and keywords in Spanish, abstract and keywords in English, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, and references.
  • It has been verified that the submission meets the specifications detailed in the RIISDS Article Checklist.

Author Guidelines

Authors must use the provided RIISDS 2026 template so that their submission meets the required editorial specifications and proceeds to peer review. (Download template here)

Author details (name, surname, affiliation, ORCID, email address), contributions by author, No Conflict of Interest statement, and Funding sources must be included in a separate PDF document. (Download example here)

The article document must not contain any information that identifies the authors.

Before submitting your article for evaluation, verify that it meets the following requirements:

General Format

  • The document uses Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
  • The document does not exceed 22 pages (including references).
  • Letter size paper, top and bottom margins 2.5 cm, left and right margins 3 cm.

Title

  • The title is written in sentence case, only the first letter capitalized, except for proper nouns.
  • The title contains a maximum of 15 words.
  • All-caps titles and ending periods are not used.

Authors

  • AUTHOR NAMES ARE NOT INCLUDED in the article text document.
  • A separate document (PDF) is included with author names, affiliation, ORCID, email address, contribution by author, No Conflict of Interest statement, funding source, and corresponding author's signature.
  • Author names are written with full first name(s) and surname(s).
  • Compound surnames are separated by hyphens (example: Pérez-Martínez).
  • Author names and identification are presented in a separate document as required by these guidelines.

Abstract (Spanish) and Abstract (English)

  • The Spanish abstract has a maximum length of 250 words and is structured as a single paragraph (describing objective, theoretical framework, methodology, conclusions).
  • The English abstract follows the same structure and length.
  • Up to 5 keywords (simple or compound) are included in Spanish and English, separated by commas.

Introduction

  • The introduction includes:
    • Importance of the topic and research justification.
    • State of the art (relevant bibliographic background).
    • Critical analysis of the literature, identifying gaps or contradictions.
  • At least 20 bibliographic references to articles published in indexed journals are cited, preferably from the last 5 years.
  • Use of references to institutional thesis repositories is avoided.
  • At least two references to articles published in RIISDS are included.
  • Citations and references follow APA 7 format.

Materials and Methods

  • The following are described in detail:
    • Type of study, sample selection, analysis methods, and data collection.
    • Ethical considerations and study limitations.
  • Tables and figures are numbered, referenced in the text, and placed after their first mention.
  • Tables: title in size 11 font (located at the top of the table), legible content, left-aligned, with necessary horizontal lines.
  • The source of the table is cited.
  • Figures: in grayscale, left-aligned, with title in size 11 font (located at the bottom of the figure).
  • The source of the figure is cited.
  • Equations: created with the equation editor, numbered, and left-aligned.

Results and Discussion

  • Results are presented clearly and logically, without repeating data from tables/figures.
  • The discussion contrasts the results with existing literature, highlighting theoretical or practical implications.
  • If necessary, study limitations and suggestions for future research are mentioned.

Conclusions

  • Conclusions are brief, precise, and based on the results.
  • Specific contributions and their theoretical or practical relevance are highlighted.

Acknowledgments (Optional)

  • If included, they are directed to institutions, companies, or organizations, not to individuals.

Bibliographic References

  • References are ordered alphabetically by author's last name.
  • They follow APA 7 format.

Final Review

  • It has been verified that there are no spelling or grammatical errors.
  • It has been confirmed that all sections are complete and comply with the specifications.

Plagiarism or Similarity Detection

To guarantee the originality of received manuscripts, Turnitin software is used for similarity and plagiarism detection, as well as to determine the percentage of article information generated by AI, ensuring academic integrity and respect for copyright.
