About the Journal

Objective: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Sustainable Engineering and Social Development (RIISDS) has the fundamental objective of fostering and disseminating excellent interdisciplinary research that integrates innovative engineering solutions with the principles of sustainable social development. It serves as a rigorous academic bridge between the technical community, social sciences, and community stakeholders to co-create knowledge that addresses contemporary socio-environmental challenges, under an open-access, peer-reviewed model.

Scope: RIISDS is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific publication aimed at researchers, students, educators, and the general public. It publishes unpublished works that explore the critical intersection between applied engineering and social development, focusing on various areas of knowledge: Engineering Sciences, Social Sciences, Interdisciplinarity, Social Development, and Sustainability, among others. It accepts original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, and theoretical essays that promote an integrative dialogue between these fields.

Open Access: We believe in the democratization of knowledge. Therefore, all journal content is freely available to anyone anywhere in the world, without economic barriers.

Continuous Publication: RIISDS has an annual continuous frequency, publishing one volume per year covering the months of January to December of the current year. Articles are published in order of acceptance throughout the year, ensuring rapid dissemination of scientific results. The average time between proposal submission and publication of the final version of accepted articles is 3 months. The first contact with the corresponding author after editorial review occurs within a maximum period of one month.

Each document has an individual DOI identifier and structured metadata to facilitate indexing in international services.

Manuscript Review Process: RIISDS implements a double-blind peer review policy, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the arbitration process. Manuscripts submitted for evaluation are stripped of any information that could identify the authors (affiliation, acknowledgements, self-citations, document metadata) before being sent to specialized reviewers from various academic institutions and/or research centers nationally and internationally. Concurrently, the identities and affiliations of the reviewers are not revealed to the authors. This mechanism guarantees the impartiality, objectivity, and integrity of the review, minimizing biases arising from the reputation, gender, nationality, institution, or academic background of those involved, and ensures that the evaluation focuses exclusively on the quality, originality, methodological rigor, and scientific contribution of the work. Final decisions (acceptance, revision, or rejection) are communicated to the corresponding author along with the issued evaluations.
