Perception of high school students towards the 2030 Agenda and sustainable de-velopment

Abstract

The United Nations called for all sectors of society to mobilize in favor of a decade of actions to ensure compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. In terms of the academic field, it is of vital importance that in basic, secondary and higher education institutions, action is taken to achieve the 17 SDGs and the 169 goals of the 2030 Agenda, because education has an important role in the development of professional skills that help achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda. Likewise, to measure the progress of the SDGs, their knowledge is essential. Based on the above, the objective of this research was to carry out a market study to know the perception towards the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals by high school students from four high school institutions located in Guasave, Sinaloa. To achieve this, a survey-type evaluation instrument was applied, consisting of 10 questions and was applied to representative samples of each institution. From the results, it is clear that more than 50% of respondents consider that the 2030 Agenda is for sustainable development, ending hunger and poverty and achieving equality between people and countries. Based on the above, it is perceived that students have knowledge of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
