Abstract

The purpose of this research was to optimize the management of stored parts in a supply trading company. During a diagnostic analysis, it was identified that one of the main areas of opportunity and improvement was the warehouse, which had poor material handling, lack of stock and inadequate organization. This made it difficult to accurately locate products on the shelves and to accurately identify the inventory available for the facilities. This situation negatively affected daily production, as the lack of material prevented the installation processes from being carried out within the timeframe agreed with the customer. As a solution, it was decided to implement the 5´S and ABC methodologies, which helped to improve the organization and management of the warehouse, allowing a more rigorous control within the solar panels area. The combination of proper classification and the application of the 5S transformed the warehouse area into a more efficient component of the company's operation; we recommend following up on the implementation of these methodologies.
